Permanent hair removal:what are the different methods?
Laser hair removal, the most popular technique
Laser hair removal is undoubtedly the most popular method. It is quick and cheaper than electric hair removal. This is a medical act performed in a dermatology office. The laser focuses on melanin (the pigment responsible for hair color). Depending on the patient profile, the doctor chooses the wavelength. Operation is simple. The laser produces a light beam. By absorbing it, the hairs are destroyed right down to the root, because they heat up to 60°C. Only the hairs are affected, there is no negative effect on the skin. The root being weakened, it will be difficult for it to make a new hair. A single laser session is not enough. It takes an average of five sessions to get rid of the hairs. For this method, the most appropriate term would be to speak of semi-permanent hair removal.
A pulsed light session for permanent hair removal
Unlike laser hair removal, a pulsed light session can be performed by a doctor, but also by an experienced beautician. The session is similar to laser hair removal. After taking all the necessary recommendations and carrying out a preliminary interview, the doctor (or beautician) applies a specific gel to the areas to be treated. The patient is lying on her back and both are wearing goggles. After applying the cold gel, the practitioner passes the flash lamp over the area to be treated. At the end of the session, the remaining gel is removed and a soothing and nourishing cream is applied. The sensation depends on the sensitivity of the person and the treated area. A period of two months is necessary between each session. Like laser hair removal, it is more correct to speak of semi-permanent or permanent hair removal.
